TST Tick Challenge

"The TST Tick Challenge is a great way to keep traders engaged in all markets.  Performing at your best and being in-tune with the market is what we expect from our recruits. This challenge helps our scout team locate and seek out those who are not afraid to share their thoughts, opinions, and ideas on the market!"
Michael Patak, CEO / Founder / Floor Trader

What are ticks?

In futures trading a "tick" is the minimum price movement of a product. Referring to ticks is commonly used by traders to reference their trading day. For example, if someone says "I made 200 ticks today" and he is a dow trader and $10 is the tick value of the dow, that means the trader made $2,000 for the day.

What is the TST Tick Challenge?

A reward system for anyone who participates in the ongoing events presented by TopstepTrader in the chat room / squawk radio broadcast. Ticks may also be earned each time someone signs up for a Combine or training, for completing the TST profile, referring a friend, and so forth. Ticks can be exchanged for TopstepTrader products and services in the TST Tick Exchange. TST ticks are fictional and have no monetary value.

How do I earn ticks?

A "tick" amount will be assigned for each event. Events include predicting where a product will be ten minutes after an economic number release, giving an interview over the chat radio, referring a friend to the Combine, being the "Top Dog", and so forth.

Daily Events

You Make the Call

A randomly selected market is chosen and traders will forecast where the price will be for that market at a given time.  Each recruit's entry (one each) will be submitted and logged. The recruit who is the closest or has predicted the exact number will be awarded the ticks. There will be a time deadline for all event entries.

Nail it = 150 TST ticks / Close call* = 50 TST ticks

*Close call will be specified by the market broadcaster

On the Horn

Recruits have the opportunity to participate in a live phone interview with Eddie. The person will answer questions about his/her trading style, former trading applications, markets traded, and other questions pertaining to the market or the individual.

You must private message Elena in the chat room for a qualification screening in order to talk live on the horn/phone. Only one interview permitted per 500 point game. Giving an interview will earn 75 TST ticks.

- What's your Play?

The first five responses will each earn 5 TST ticks for answering trading questions. Questions are subject to change.

Example:

Are you long or short?  What are you trading?  Why did you put this position on?

Answer example:

I am long the ES because the market held support at 1235.75 and started to firm up.

- Tick Trade - Make a Market

Trade the ticks that accrue in your TST Tick Account by "making a market" at any point in the trading day. The idea is to make a market by placing a price, quantity of ticks you want to trade and by what time that price will be at what you say. You MUST make sure you have it in all caps and in bold so it sticks out in the chat room.

For example:

Step One: If you think the Crude will be offered 96.70 or lower by 1pm CST and you want to risk 50 ticks you would post the following to the lounge in the chat room.

(or if you think the market will go higher: WHATS HERE!!! CL 9670 BID 50 BY 1PM)

(or if you want to cancel or pull the order say: I'm off ... or I'm out)

Step Two: If another trader in the chat room likes this market and would like to take the other side they must be the FIRST to specify that they want to buy and the username of the person.

(or if selling: SOLD NEB)

Step Three: Both tick traders MUST then check the trade.

Step Four: The loser of the tick trade will confirm the ticks that need to be given to the winner.

After you complete the tick trade, the loser MUST go the winners TST profile and make a tick settlement This is accomplished by clicking the Tick Settlement button on the winners profile and entering in the tick amount that was lost. This is a self-regulated event. You may take a screen shot or copy the chat to keep for your records.
